Nestled in the heart of Geneseo at 71 Main Street, Kelly's Saloon is much more than your typical small-town bar—it’s a vibrant local institution that perfectly balances tradition, community, and lively entertainment. Whether you’re a college student looking to unwind or a longtime resident seeking familiar company, Kelly's offers an inviting atmosphere where every visit feels like coming home.
Step inside to find a spacious bar area that buzzes with energy, complete with classic dive bar elements like a well-worn pool table, darts, and a welcoming outdoor patio. The recent remodel—prompted by a fire—has refreshed the space without losing the beloved “is it dirty or just dark?” charm that longtime patrons cherish. This blend of old-school ambiance and thoughtful updates makes it an ideal spot to relax with a cold Labatts Blue Lite or Miller and soak in the buzz of conversation and music.
The true heart of Kelly’s lies in its community. Customers consistently praise the friendly, attentive staff and the mix of locals and students who create a dynamic, welcoming crowd. Jacob Bielecki-Schenk highlights the excellent service and social vibe, while zichao lin notes the importance of the saloon as a storied gathering place where drinks are affordable and camaraderie is abundant.
There’s always something happening at Kelly’s. From the casual thrill of a pool game to the lively dart competitions, this bar offers more than just drinks—it offers connection. Ian Tomeo beautifully summarizes the experience, emphasizing the cozy Irish-inspired atmosphere and the intriguing conversations with staff, even joking about a bouncer knowledgeable in Warhammer lore! And for those who appreciate local talent, Tuesday open mic nights are a cherished tradition, where Spring Teeter observes that the locals who perform “can really sing.”
While it does get lively—sometimes loud—especially on packed nights fueled by the college crowd, this energy adds to the saloon’s authentic character. It’s a place where stories are shared, friendships are forged, and everyone’s welcome to join in regardless of how long they’ve been part of the scene. In many ways, Kelly’s Saloon is not just a bar; it’s a cornerstone of Geneseo’s social life and a place where the spirit of community truly comes alive.
Great place to socialize and grab drinks. Has a large bar to sit at with a pool table, darts, and outdoor area. Definitely on the louder side, but not a bad thing. Service was excellent and everybody was friendly.
Exactly what you want in a small town dive bar. Possibly less dive-y since they remodeled after the fire, but still has that 'is it dirty or just dark?' charm. Prices are reasonable and the crowd is locals. Locals that may or may not have been there since 10am... always an interesting time.
Friendly staff, very good crowd with a mix of locals and students. The places appears to have quite a history, and to be quite a important establishment in town. Aside from the friendly crowd, the drinks are also very cheap. So go there and buy a round for your friends hahaha
This place has its all, music, pool, darts, and nonalchohalic drinks. The bouncer will even theorize about warhammer lore. With a cozy irish atmosphere, go here not just for a fun time but to meet new friends.
Great place for a drink, a game of pool or darts. Just remember, it's a college town and the college kids do go here. It does get pretty packed some nights. Tuesday nights are my favorite, open mic! The locals that come out to sing, can really sing!!!
